About
Forma Mechanica (mechanical form) is a multidisciplinary exploration of identity, structure, and perception—where abstraction meets anatomy. Spanning traditional painting, digital illustration, hand created animation, and sculptural metalwork, the collection examines the evolving relationship between society, self, and culture through both engineered and emotional design.
Inspired by his Salvadoran roots and the vibrant colours of South American culture, Lesther Gutierrez draws from a rich and varied creative background to craft layered compositions that speak a unique visual language. With years of experience as an animator and art director in the film and animation industry—and as a musician, singer, and producer in a rock band—his work is deeply influenced by rhythm, movement, and storytelling. Fascinated by the stories encountered along the way, he constructs artwork that reflects both the internal and external worlds we inhabit..
The paintings combine expressive brushwork with digital textures and precise linework, creating a dialogue between traditional and contemporary techniques. His animated works are brought to life entirely by hand—without the use of AI—preserving a deeply personal and intentional rhythm. Each discipline informs the next, reimagining emotion and anatomy through form.
The sculptural metalworks extend the depth and chaos found in Lesther’s two-dimensional pieces, giving tangible structure to intangible ideas. These engineered forms act as physical echoes of the original artworks, transforming visual language into tactile experience.
Together, the works in Forma Mechanica explore the tension between the organic and the mechanical, the internal and the external— and ultimately, the personal architecture we build to exist within the modern world.
